Job Description

The Regulated and Stewardship Specialist will be responsible for supporting regulated nursery seed production and trialing teams for NA Region enabling field compliance and quality assurance practices for an effective pipeline delivery.

Work closely with the Regulatory team to ensure follow thorough Regulated and Stewarded guidelines in all activities. Support sites where these activities are conducted, including seeds movement, planting, harvesting, and processing.

This role will focus on Genetically Modified (GM) and Genome Edited (GE) Traits best practices interacting with multiple teams such as:

  • Traits (TI, TE, TD) & Regulatory
  • Trialing
  • Operations
  • Scientists

Accountabilities:

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert on Stewardship and Quality Management Systems for Regulated/Stewarded locations.
  • Participate in new processes/protocol/site design to include regulatory, stewardship and quality control regulations/process.
  • Lead and support MoC (Management of Change) process for Regulated process changes.
  • Provide routine metrics to leaders.
  • Lead critical investigations and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for problems related to regulatory, stewardship or quality.
  • Coordinate yearly Level 1 and Level 2 Assessments / Audits.
  • Training management for regulated and stewarded key processes.
  • Ensure Waste Streams and Destruction process are followed.
  • Quality Management for Regulated and Stewarded trials (Document Management, Nonconformity Management, PDCA, Audits, Risk Analysis, Incident Response)
  • Ensure shipping of Regulated Seeds meet compliance requirements.
  • Support Trait Assessment APHIS/NSVBM process review to meet compliance requirements.
  • Support Shipping and Receiving NSVBM - Non-Seed Viable Biological Materials (insects, pathogens, nematodes, soil, plants) process to meet compliance requirements.
  • Support ETS best practices implementation (Excellence Through Stewardship).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Agriculture, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Agriculture Sciences/R&D/Seeds Production.
  • Knowledge of Regulated/Stewarded compliance guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management and Stewardship methods and systems (ideally with Reliance).
  • Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate cross functionally.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US (no sponsorship)
  • Ability and willingness for domestic travel up to 10%


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with Regulated and Stewarded materials and strong interaction with Regulatory team.
  • Working knowledge of Regulated/Stewarded Field Trials and regulatory management system tools (ideally RegOne).
